Milan To Unleash Super Pippo Against Arsenal
Milan Coach Carlo Ancelotti is set to unleash Filippo Inzaghi in tomorrow night’s Champions League last 16 second leg against Arsenal, according to the Corriere dello Sport.
The Rossoneri welcome the Gunners to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza confident of progressing to the next round following their first leg draw in London a fortnight ago.
Ancelotti is almost certain to field Inzaghi, given the striker’s astonishing European pedigree.
The 34-year-old is the all-time top-scorer in UEFA competition, and has hit the back of the net four times in as many Champions League appearances this campaign.
Inzaghi is renowned for performing in the big games that really matter having scored five goals in finals over the past 12 months. He scored both of Milan’s goals in last year’s Champions League final win over Liverpool, added another in the European Super Cup success over Sevilla, before hitting a brace against Boca Juniors in the Club World Cup final in December.
Ancelotti believes that the high-profile occasion of a meeting against English league-leaders Arsenal will suit Inzaghi’s big game temperament.
The veteran will start alongside Alexandre Pato up-front if, as expected, Clarence Seedorf is not passed fit.
If the Dutchman does make the game, then one of Inzaghi or Pato will drop out, most probably the Brazilian.
Alessandro Nesta, Andrea Pirlo and Kaka are all fully fit, but Emerson and Marek Jankulovski are both sidelined.
