AC Milan's Ronaldo has successful surgery
AC Milan striker Ronaldo has undergone successful knee surgery last night in Paris.
The Brazilian's operation ran for two hours and was performed by Eric Rolland under the supervision of Gerard Saillant.
Saillant emerged last night from theatre to say: "The operation lasted about two hours and took place without any major problems.
"Ronaldo must now undergo a rehabilitation period which will last nine months. Can he continue to play? It will depend on him."
Meanwhile, Milan teammate Clarence Seedorf admitted: "I was playing with Ronaldo at Inter when he suffered his first knee injury. When I saw it happen on Sunday, my heart stopped.
"We're all sorry, he is a fine person and one of the best players in the history of football. Let's see if he manages to recover, the important thing is to do the best thing for yourself and your health."
