Kaka Named Player Of the Year For 2007 By ‘SN’
Milan superstar Kaka has been named as Player of the Year for 2007 by Croatian daily newspaper SN.
'Sportske Novorski’ is the only Croatian daily newspaper and has been issuing this award for seven years.
Kaka, who succeeds 2006 winner Thierry Henry, was selected by an expert panel including former footballing greats such as Franco Baresi, Emilio Butragueno and Robert Prosinecki.
The Brazilian was handed the prize at Milanello by former Croatia star Zvonimir Boban, who played for the Rossoneri himself with distinction from 1992 to 2001.
It has been a simply stunning past 12 months for Kaka, who has won trophies galore, both on a team and personal level.
In addition to winning the Champions League, European Super Cup and World Club Cup with Milan, he was also named as Golden Ball winner and FIFA World Footballer of the Year. In total Kaka has picked up 14 recognised personal awards for the year 2007.
The 25-year-old has started 2008 in brilliant fashion, scoring a fine goal in the 5-2 win over Napoli, and creating Alberto Gilardino’s last minute winner against Udinese yesterday with an audacious back-flick.
