"I'm not Brazil's saviour. I will just try to help the team as much as possible.”

Two goalless draws against Argentina and Bolivia in recent matches, as well as 2-0 defeats against Venezuela and Paraguay have disappointed the Seleção fans, leaving Brazil four points behind leaders Paraguay in the South American World Cup qualifying standings.

Kaka has been in blistering form during Milan's last few matches. Having recovered from various knee problems, which plagued him for much of last season, one can see why fans in his homeland are looking to the influential star for leadership.

Kaka has scoffed at claims from Jose Mourinho that Inter Milan deserved something from last night's derby.
Ronaldinho edged the massive game with a first-half header for AC Milan and Kaka declared afterwards: “It’s true we scored the goal, but other than that I think Milan dominated the match and always tried to play attacking football.
“Mourinho makes me laugh, like when he said Dejan Stankovic’s foul was really me pretending to be injured as a tactical choice. It’s funny.
“We are all professionals and off the field everyone is friends. We defend our colours on the pitch, but ultimately we all know each other.”
Kaka was delighted for fellow Brazilian Ronaldinho.

The Rossoneri had surprisingly found themselves bottom of the table after two consecutive losses to Bologna and Genoa to start their Serie A campaign, but came up with a scintilating performance today as they defeated Lazio 4-1 at the San Siro.

Kaka was among the scorers for Milan and made several of his trademark mazy runs during the course of the match. The Brazilian midfielder is now confident his team are on the right track again.

"We discussed this week that we are not a bunch of individuals, but a united team and that is what we proved tonight," revealed Kaka. “There is a long way to go yet, but you can already see the improvements and this will be a good example for the future.”

Milan now have a Brazilian triumverate of attackers in Kaka, Pato, and Ronaldinho - but he had praise for all of Milan's players: "It's wonderful to play with my compatriots Pato and Ronadinho, but also because I play in a squad with such champions as (Paolo) Maldini, (Massimo) Ambrosini, and (Clarence) Seedorf, etc."

Milan's next test is at the Stadio Granillo, where they will take on Reggina in the midweek round of Serie A this Wednesday.

European and World Footballer of the Year Kaka has rubbished rumours linking him with a move to Manchester City, and says that he will never leave Milan unless they forced him to.

Transfer stories about Kaka have permeated the English and Italian press almost all summer, with Chelsea being the club mainly associated with the Brazilian superstar.

However, since the transfer window closed last week, the 26-year-old has also been heavily linked with Manchester City, who are now the richest club in the world following the takeover by Arab billionaire Dr Sulaiman Al-Fahim.

Another club who have tried unsuccessfully in the past to acquire Kaka is Spanish giants Real Madrid, but the Brazilian, who is fast becoming frustrated by all the transfer speculation, has come out an insisted that he will never leave Milan unless the club forced him to go.

“First it was Real Madrid and now it is fashionable to talk about England,” the ex-Sao Paolo man told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The market goes like that. Milan make offers to other clubs and they make offers to Milan. But I would never ask to leave. I have always been treated well and the relationship is excellent.

“One day people may have a different attitude towards me, but that doesn't seem possible to me. I would only leave if the Rossoneri decided to sell me, or the day that we don't have the same objectives and I don't see that happening."

Kaka has been hampered by constant knee injuries over the past year, eventually having an operation in May, and he has admitted that for a long time he kept playing through the pain barrier.

“I know there is concern over my injury but this story has been running for over a year,” he stated.

“There has always been something that stopped me from listening to my body.

“For example, the knee would hurt but we had a European Super Cup to win, and then I wanted the Ballon d'Or and then the games in Yokohama [in the Club World Cup]. It kept going like that until I had to stop.”

Kaka is hoping to return to action for this weekend’s Serie A trip to the Stadio Ferraris to play Genoa.

According to The Daily Mail, Chelsea are determined to sign Milan superstar Kaka before the end of the transfer window on Monday night, and have launched a record-breaking €100m bid for his services.

The English giants are long-term admirers of the European and World Footballer of the Year, and have been constantly linked with him all summer.

Last month it was reported in the media that Chelsea had made a €100m bid for the Brazilian and, although this wasn’t confirmed, Milan transfer guru Adriano Galliani did reveal that the club had rejected a “conspicuous” offer from Chelsea. Since then, there have been numerous figures bandied about by the press, with the Italian media even stating that Chelsea were prepared to fork out a whopping €150m for the midfielder.

The most recent chapter in this saga came on Monday when the Daily Star claimed that Chelsea only allowed Andriy Shevchenko to return to Milan when the Italians handed them a transfer option on Kaka.

The Daily Mail have now taken this to the next level, and claim that Chelsea have launched a €100m raid on Kaka, and will try desperately to complete the deal before the transfer window closes on Monday night.

Their chances of succeeding are said to be good because Kaka is disillusioned with life at San Siro. One of his main grievances is Milan’s transfer policy this summer, and he is said to be particularly unhappy with the arrival of Ronaldinho.

There seems to be no peace for Kaká. At least not for his left knee, which has made the Milan playmaker suffer all through the second part of last season, and looks likely to continue bothering him in the season ahead. This is the only conclusion that can be drawn from the news coming out of Milan, which are far from reassuring on the player's conditions.

According to the club's official website, professor Martens has advised the player to follow two more weeks of specific cures before coming back on the pitch. One thing seems for sure, then: the player will not be available for Milan's opening Serie A match against Bologna.

The problem Kaká is suffering from is an inflammation to his knee which is known to be quite painful. Knowing how important the player has been to Milan in recent years, it's likely this news will also be painful for all Rossoneri fans.

According to The Times, AC Milan may consider selling Kaka to Chelsea next summer for a world record fee.

Chelsea have been consistently linked with a move for the European and World Footballer of the Year since very early on in Roman Abramovich’s tenureship at Stamford Bridge.

This summer has been the hottest since with regards to speculation, and a few weeks ago the Italian and English press was full of reports over a possible transfer.

This most recent saga started towards the end of July when it was reported that Chelsea had made a €100m bid for Kaka. The next day Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani confirmed that he had rejected a “conspicuous” offer from Chelsea but wouldn’t reveal a figure, before adding that Kaka was not for sale at any price.

Chelsea's chief executive Peter Kenyon then refuted talk of a bid for Kaka, but this didn’t stop the press reporting that the English giants were to make a gargantuan €150m offer for the Brazilian.

Eventually the rampant speculation died down, but a new report in The Times claims that there is a very good chance that the transfer could go through next summer.

Chelsea are said to be already laying the groundwork for a world record deal that will take one year to complete, and are hoping that this long-term tactic will provide the same result as their pursuit of former Rossonero Andriy Shevchenko, who they tried to sign in three consecutive summers before finally capturing him in 2006.

Milan have told Chelsea that they will not sell Kaka this summer, but may reconsider this stance next year. The player himself may also be open to the move due to the presence of Blues manager Luiz Felipe Scolari who coached Kaka for Brazil during their victorious 2002 World Cup campaign in Korea and Japan.

The news of the potential deal first broke some months ago with Chelsea reportedly offering AC Milan £100 million for the Brazilian. However, since then all has gone relatively quiet on the Kaka-to-Chelsea front.

Indeed the West London side had been more closely linked with a move for fellow Brazilian Robinho instead, however with Real Madrid reluctant to sell especially after having failed to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, the Kaka deal looks to have raised its head once again.

The Observer claims that Kaka is still very much interested in a move to Chelsea and that the bid the Blues have made for the Brazilian is still under discussion at San Siro. The paper also quotes the player’s personal assistant, Diogo Kotscho, as suggesting a deal may be close.

“I spoke with Kaká yesterday,” he said before adding, “We know that the clubs are talking about the transfer, although they have not reached a conclusion yet. I think an August transfer is still a possibility, though Kaká will only talk about that when they do a deal. He is waiting for a deal and then he will start to negotiate with Chelsea.”

Whilst Carlo Ancelotti would be loathe to sell his star player, the arrival of Ronaldinho in Milan and the lack of Champions League football for his side this season has increased speculation that the time may be right for Kaka to end his AC Milan career.

The player’s personal assistant, revealed that it would be difficult for the Rossoneri to allow Kaka to leave, but did not rule a move out. He said: “Normally, Milan do not sell their best players. We think they like the proposal, but it is not so easy for them to accept it. For now we must just wait and see.”

Another factor that is thought to have irked Kaka is his club’s refusal to release him for the Olympics, despite allowing the newly-arrived Ronaldinho to attend. With fellow Brazilian Luiz Felipe Scolari now installed at Stamford Bridge, it would seem that Chelsea have much to tempt the world footballer of the year.

Clarence Seedorf has reacted to AC Milan medical chief Dr Jean Pierre Meersemann's amazing attack on Kaka's decision to undergo knee surgery at the end of last season.

The Blues have been linked somewhat tentatively with the World Player of the Year over the past couple of months, but only in the last 24 hours has speculation heightened, with rumours rife the Rossoneri are ready to cash in on their star man, with Ronaldinho signed and capable of acting as his replacement.

The club remain in some financial difficulty after failing to qualify for the Champions League last season, and vice president Adriano Galliani even alluded to the possibility of selling Kaka or Andrea Pirlo to alleviate the financial stress they are currently under, but insisted the club would not be forced into such a position.

Yet the rumours have persisted and quotes this morning emerged from Kaka himself, who said he was unsure on what will happen in the near future, revealing that two teams are in pursuit of his services, the other thought to be long-term admirers Real Madrid, who were rebuffed in an approach for him last summer.

The conventional wisdom remains that the Brazilian will remain at San Siro, where he was on numerous occasions expressed the desire to go down in history as a club legend along with the likes of Paolo Maldini.

Now, communications director Mentana has told the club's official website the 26-year-old's situation remains as it always has been: he is not for sale, and contracted until 2013.

Current World Player of the Year, AC Milan's Kaka, has confessed that he believes Cristiano Ronaldo has now replaced him as the world's best player.

Kaka, who won both the Ballon d’Or and the FIFA World Player of the Year Awards in 2007, has tipped the Manchester United winger to replace him as the world’s best player after the Portuguese star helped his side to a Premier League and Champions League double.

Ronaldo enjoyed a remarkable season last time out scoring 42 goals in all competitions and picking up the PFA Player of the Year Award.

Now, the Brazilian Kaka has revealed he thinks Ronaldo will replace him as the world’s best player. Speaking to the media, he said: “I believe that the number one candidate is still Cristiano Ronaldo, above all for what he did and won in the Champions League with Manchester United.”

Ronaldo scored the opening goal in the Champions League final against Chelsea and although the Blues equalised and the game ended level, Manchester United triumphed on penalties.

Whilst Ronaldo came third in the 2007 poll behind Kaka and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, Kaka confessed that he doesn’t expect to top the lists again this year. AC Milan suffered a disappointing campaign in Serie A last season finishing fourth but a massive 36 points behind champions and city neighbours Inter.

Despite this, Kaka revealed he was looking forward to the new season and a chance to improve on last season’s poor league form.

“For me there's still half a season, so we'll see,” said Kaka before adding, “It will be a different season with lots of new inspirations.”

Chelsea have put a big-money offer on the table for Brazilian playmaker Kaka, AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani said Sunday, without giving further details of the proposed deal.

"An astronomical offer has come in from Chelsea for Kaka," Galliani told Italian newspaper La Stampa, adding that club have also expressed interest in the club's World Cup winner Andrea Pirlo.

Milan superstar Kaka is recovering well from his knee operation, and he has once again reassured fans that he will be back in time for pre season training.

The Brazilian was troubled by a chronic knee injury for most of last season, and underwent surgery at the end of May in a bid to correct the problem.

There had originally been fears that the 26-year-old may not return for three months, however he has once again rubbished these rumours and says that he will be fit enough to report for pre season training on July 16.

“I am undergoing physiotherapy and I am happy with how it is going,” Kaka told Sky Sport Italia.

“My knee still hurts, but I’m sure that it will be better soon and I will be ready for the pre-season camp on July 16.”

Milan have made quite a splash in the transfer market this summer, having snapped up the likes of Gianluca Zambrotta, Mathieu Flamini and Marco Borriello.

Milan superstar Kaka has reassured fans that his recovery from a knee operation is going well, and he says he should be ready to start playing again in around 15 days.

Kaka underwent surgery last month to correct a chronic knee problem that had troubled him for the whole of last season.

The Brazilian playmaker was last season the subject of relentless transfer speculation linking him with Real Madrid, but this time around it's Chelsea that are so-called favourites to sign him.

With former Brazil boss Luiz Felipe Scolari being appointed as Stamford Bridge coach recently, these rumours have only intensified. For Kaká, though, they have no substance.

"Chelsea? I heard about their interest from the English papers," he said.

"But I don't want to leave Milan at all. The only way I'd do that is if they decided to sell me. From what I've seen, it seems difficult."

World soccer’s biggest stars are assembling to play in a charity match to commemorate Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday.

The former South African President who fought to abolish apartheid will turn 90 on July 18. A match has been organised on July 12 in Germany at Munich’s Allianz Arena on July 12 match between two all-star XI’s to honour this landmark, and to raise money for education in Africa.

The game will kick off the beginning of the worldwide fundraising campaign "Goal4Africa," where people pledge to donate money for every goal scored by their favourite team over the course of the next two years.

Some of the biggest names in football will be playing, including Kaka, Gennaro Gattuso, Samuel Eto’o, Frank Lampard, Gianluigi Buffon, Steven Gerrard, and Didier Drogba.

The professor who executed yesterday's operation on Kaká does not want to rush things with the player's rehabilitation.

That Milan star Ricky Kaká was having a problem to his knee had been known for a while. What also seems evident is that after four years of playing almost non-stop dazzling football and winning an array of individual and team trophies, it was about time the Brazilian took some time off.

The operation he was subjected to yesterday at Rio De Janeiro went smoothly and professor Runco, who has had several Milan players under his knife before, talked about the reasons for the operation to clean up his left knee's meniscus.

"It was as if he had a pebble in his shoe," he explained, "the damage was done by a strain to the joint due to movements of rotation, acceleration, and braking.

Milan superstar Kaka has revealed his disappointment at not being permitted by his club to represent Brazil at this summer's Olympics.
All teams participating at the Olympic games in Beijing are allowed to select three players over the age of 23, and Brazil had wanted to call-up Kaka.

However last week Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani issued a statement in which he made it perfectly clear that the European and World Footballer of the Year would not be allowed to be selected.

This decision appears to have upset Kaka a little, even if he has accepted Milan’s wishes.

"I did everything I possibly could so that I could play at the Olympics,” stressed the 26-year-old.

“I made myself available. However, AC Milan have decided otherwise, and I have accepted it.”

Kaka also spoke about his knee operation, and he hopes to return to action much sooner than the three months that some sources have been predicting.

"This is the first time that I have had to have surgery, but unfortunately it could not be avoided,” he explained.

“We have tried, together with staff of Milan to do our best, but evidently it has not been enough. I hope to return soon, and I want to be on the pitch for the two World Cup 2010 qualifiers against Argentina and Paraguay [next month]."

Milan general manager Adriano Galliani has made an official declaration, confirming that Kaka will not be allowed to represent Brazil at this summer’s Olympics, however Alexandre Pato will be permitted.

All teams participating in the Olympic games in Beijing are allowed to select three players over the age of 23, and there have been strong calls for Kaka to be chosen for Brazil.

Milan have now made it perfectly clear that they will refuse to allow the European and World Footballer of the Year to be selected.

AC Milan star Kaká gave an interview in which he said that it's highly unlikely he will leave the club and that he wouldn't mind too much playing in the Uefa Cup.

"There's only one chance I will leave Milan, actually two," he said. "The first is that my objectives and those of the club are no longer the same, the second is that they tell me they want to sell me because they need to make a new start. I don't think either of these possibilities are likely."

Some cynics are saying that Kaká won't accept playing in the Uefa Cup and will leave in case Milan don't make it into the Champions League, but the Golden Ball winner disagrees.

"It can happen that we play in the Uefa Cup for once, and if it does happen we will play to win it. And we want to win the Scudetto in any case. It's been too long since we've been competitive in the league."

Asked if he enjoys playing as a striker, he said: "I didn't like it at first, but after a year I got used to playing as a second striker and now I like it. I play in a 30-40 meter radius instead of 70 meters, and it's easier to find the goal. I like it like this."

Kaka's Olympic Participation In Doubt
Brazilian Football Confederation president Ricardo Teixeira has admitted that he is having trouble convincing some Europe clubs, including AC Milan, to part with their senior players for this year's Olympic football tournament.
The Olympics is the only international tournament that Brazil have never won and there is a concerted effort within the country to make sure that this is the year in which they finally take home the gold medal.

Key to these hopes is getting European teams to part with their players, especially the three overage players that are picked as part of the U-23 squad eligible for the competition.

AC Milan's Kaka is one such overage player and Teixeira has admitted that he is having troubles persuading the Rossoneri to part with him for the tournament in Beijing.

"I am finding it difficult to get some teams to release their players and I include Milan in this list. But, who knows, I think FIFA can help us on this issue," he told reporters at the press conference to open the 2008 Brazilian Championship on Tuesday morning.

Kaka has previously admitted that he would like to play a part in Brazil's quest for Olympic gold, but insisted that he would only be involved if Milan gave him the go ahead to do so. With it likely that Milan could be involved in Champions League qualifying rounds at the time of the Olympic tournament it seems improbable that they would allow him to take part.

Former Milan player Leonardo is currently being used as an intermediary in the Confederation's efforts to get Kaka on board, with there currently said to be an amicable relationship between the two parties as talks continue.

Kaka has hailed the understanding he has on the pitch with Milan team-mate Pippo Inzaghi.
The pair have been in simply stunning form in recent games, both getting on the scoresheet in yesterday’s 2-1 derby victory over city rivals Inter.

AC Milan star Ricky Kaká talked about next weekend's mouth-watering derby against Inter.
It's just a matter of days now before one of the most highly-anticipated Milan derbies in recent years kicks off. The stakes are sky-high for both sides, as the Rossoneri need a win at all costs to maintain hopes of pipping Fiorentina to the fourth place, while Inter will make sure of their third consecutive Scudetto if they take all three points.

"It will be hard to prevent Inter winning the Scudetto," says Milan playmaker Kaká, "but the ideal thing would be to postpone their party. For them it would be the third consecutive Scudetto, but I wouldn't be proud of it, I wouldn't say it like that: they only won two of those on the pitch, one more deserved than the other."

Considering the statistics, Inter are the clear favorites in this derby, as they are 23 points ahead in the standings and they've also won the last three derbies.

AC Milan playmaker Kaka has sent out a warning to his rivals, claiming that his best is yet to come and that only Milan can help him reach it.

Kaka won both the Ballon d'Or and the FIFA World Player of the Year during an excellent campaign last year, which culminated in the Brazilian winning his first Champions League crown.

It was not enough for Kaka, however, who now has his sights on winning the awards again before he can be mentioned in the same breath as other legends of the game.

And speaking in Spanish newspaper El Mundo, Kaka admitted the San Siro is the only place feels he can achieve his goal.

"My objective is to win (the Ballon d'Or) again and get closer to the likes of (Johann) Cruyff or (Marco) Van Basten who have three," he said.

"That is one of my goals, because I think I'm still to reach my best. Milan are the ones who can help me to do that.

"Milan offered me the chance (to come to Europe). They made things so easy for me which is why I'm so strongly linked to this club and why I haven't thought of playing anywhere else."

Real Madrid have repeatedly been linked with Kaka, but despite admitting an interest in Spanish football the 25-year-old midfielder said he never entertained any thoughts of joining the Spanish champions.

He said: "I like Spanish football. But I'm used to Italian football where I see it as a challenge to overcome the tactical difficulties.

"With regard to Madrid, my father and agent spoke to them and told them that Kaka would never leave Milan.

"They told Madrid the only possibility would be for them to contact Milan, which they did and my team told them I wasn't for sale."

and technically, so I think the best is still to come.
The 26-year-old AC Milan player said he expects to be at his best during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
«I want to get there in top form,» Kaka said. «I'll be 28, and I think it could be the age when I'll be at the peak of my career, in a moment of excellent maturity and experience. It could be a nice World Cup for Brazil, a new cycle, with new players.
Kaka said he expects to play another 10 years at least, and is even looking at the 2014 World Cup in his native Brazil.
«It will depend on my physical condition, if I'll still be playing at a high level,» he said.
Kaka also said he would welcome Ronaldinho at AC Milan.

«He has an incredible talent, few players can do what he can with the ball,» Kaka said. «It would be a great acquisition by Milan.

Adriano Galliani revealed in a meeting with shareholders today that AC Milan are ₤24 million in debt, and hinted that it could be necessary to offload Brazilian superstar Kaka in order to balance the books.
The 63-year-old has all but assumed the role of club president since Silvio Berlusconi vacated his post earlier this week.

And in an attempt to assuage the fears of investors as the Rossoneri prepare to mount an assault on the summer transfer market, Galliani insisted that all it would take is one player sale to wipe out the club’s debt – though not just any player, of course.

“To get the books back in order it would be enough to sell Kaka to Real Madrid for £55m,” he said.

The earnestness of Galliani’s statement is debatable, but the shockwave of speculation that it will undoubtedly send rippling throughout the football world is not.

It has been mooted that Milan may no longer be the spending power they once were, as they have failed to introduce any great amount of youth or superstar quality into their squad in recent times – Alexandre Pato being the obvious exception.

Some saw the ₤30 million sale of Andriy Shevchenko to Chelsea in 2006 as a sign that Milan had crested the hill, and news that they could look to offload Kaka will only further ingrain the belief some hold that the Rossoneri cannot afford to keep their marquee players.

Kaká talked about the possibility of becoming the Milan's next captain after Paolo Maldini hangs up his boots.
Lately there's been a lot of talk and rumours concerning the identity of Milan's new first-choice captain after Paolo Maldini finally hangs up his boots (which might not be already this year...). It's been suggested that Gennaro 'Rino' Gattuso intends to leave the club unless he is named the next Milan captain, and it seems as if star playmaker Kaká forms a big threat in this particular race for the gritty midfielder.

However, the Golden Ball winner predictably kept things vague when he was asked about this subject.

"Perhaps one day we'll talk about this, but there's no hurry," he said. "I think that at the moment there are some team mates who have the desire to become captain of Milan. It's normal. I respect the hierarchies at Milan, one day we'll come together to decide about this."

Another strong candidate for the coveted captain's armband is midfielder Massimo Ambrosini, who has been at the club since 1995 (barring a brief loan spell at Vicenza), four years longer than 'Rino', so perhaps Gattuso's demand to be the new captain seems a bit unjustified.

Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti believes that the return to form of Kaka was a key factor in today's thumping 5-1 win over Reggina.
The Rossoneri were hugely impressive at San Siro, with Kaka christening a brilliant individual performance by helping himself to a hat-trick.

Kaka has been struggling with injury for much of the season, but he now appears to be back at full fitness.

“We had a good start with impressive play and determination, quickly breaking the deadlock so we could hit them on the counter,” explained Ancelotti.

Chelsea are confident of landing Brazilian superstar Kaka in a £50million deal from AC Milan.
The Blues are ready to move after the Italian club agreed a £22m fee to sign Ronaldinho from Barcelona.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and manager Avram Grant believe Kaka can be the hallmark signing of their planned £100m summer spending spree.

Milan midfielder Kaká was back in action for his team on Saturday evening, and it was no coincidence that the rossoneri were back to winning ways as they defeated Cagliari 3-1 at San Siro.

Kaká proved his importance for the Rossoneri on Saturday as he produced a great display to help his side beat the Sardinian outfit in the 32nd matchday of Serie A.

“I’m very happy personally to have managed to score a goal in the last three games I played,” declared the Brazilian. “It’s something that charges me up greatly as it’s always a pleasure.

“Tonight I felt well and managed to do the things I wanted to do,” he continued. “It was a good return.

“With regards to the goal, Pippo [Inzaghi] was very good as he allowed me the necessary space to score. It was a nice move.

“We started out well, with the right motivation and different spirit to the previous three games. We had a good first half and only for 15 minutes we slowed down a bit in the second half, but the game was in our hands by then,” he explained.

Spectator Woes

For Kaká, a return to the pitch was long overdue.

He said, “Against Atalanta and Sampdoria I had to watch the game as a spectator and therefore the only thing that I could do is support the team, but my desire to be there and help my team–mates wasoverwhelming.

“Therefore tonight I celebrated this goal as much as I could.”

Kaká believes that this game will be the turning point for Milan in their bid to reach a Champions League spot for next season.

“I think that this will be the game from where we start again to reach the fourth place,” he affirmed.

“These have been 20 difficult days in which I had to stay out, but now I’m fine and hope in this final part of the season to reach fourth place. Hearing the Curva sing after my goal always gives a great emotional feeling, a really special one.”

World Player of the Year front-runner Cristiano Ronaldo might be setting Europe alight this season, but he only ranks eighth in a list of the world’s most lavishly paid players.

A photocopied list of the top 50 earners is doing the rounds at present, compiled by inside sources, allowing for some interesting wage comparisons.

Milan’s Ricardo Kaka tops the pile – raking in £143,438 per week, or just under £7.5m a year - with second-placed Barcelona ace Ronaldinho making similar money.

As one would expect, big-spending Chelsea’s presence in the top ten hints at their astronomical wage bill. Frank Lampard and John Terry are third and fourth, with Andriy Shevchenko and Michael Ballack also in the top seven.

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is sandwiched between his Blues rivals in fifth place, while Barca’s Thierry Henry and Reds’ skipper Steven Gerrard complete the top ten.

Perhaps the biggest surprise, then, is 36-goal Manchester United winger Ronaldo, who earns £20,000 less than Kaka - £122,400 per week. However, an oft-proposed move to La Liga would surely put his earnings into the stratosphere.

There are a few surprising names on the list. Portsmouth's Sol Campbell earns more than £105,000 a week in 15th, while Tottenham's Darren Bent’s salary is put at £94,669 and Liverpool's injury-plagued midfielder Harry Kewell ranks 39th.

England cap centurion David Beckham, meanwhile, is on £71,000 per week with LA Galaxy. However, his position in 44th is slightly misleading, as his MLS contract is structured in such a way that his pay would rise significantly over the coming years.

Still, it’s quite a drop form the reported £120,000 per week he received during his spell at Real Madrid.

"I wanted to play at one of Europe's great clubs and Milan were the only ones to make an offer," the Brasilia native recalled on Spanish radio show Onda Cero.

"This club gave me the opportunity to realise my full potential and changed my life - I owe them for that."

Real Madrid have made no secret of their desire to lure Kaka to La Liga, but the 25-year-old stressed that he wouldn't instigate any deal.

"I have always said that there would need to be an agreement between the two sides for me to change clubs." he said "I am happy in Milan and I feel at ease here.

"Real have never spoken directly to me, but they have been in contact with my agent who told them that they needed to sort things with the club first."

After watching helplessly as his side were jettisoned by Arsenal in the Champions League, Milan's Kaka' singled out one of Wenger's most important players for praise and admiration.

Cesc Fabregas, who has accrued genuine critical recognition for his deliberate and elegant performances, caught the eye of the FIFA World Player of the Year and is, in Kaka's opinion, what every modern footballer should aspire to.

As well as being the metronome in Arsenal's midfield, Cesc is also adept at making those around him play as he wishes, controlling matches, and this ability has not been lost on Kaka.

"He (Fabregas) is a great player for the future," said the Brazilian. "He's an amazing talent because of how he plays and how he controls how others play.

Kaká has revealed that he was given assurances by AC Milan that he would never forced to leave the club and has said that he can become an ever greater player by staying with them.

The Brazilian superstar was linked with a move to Real Madrid last summer, but after talks with the Rossoneri a move was never likely to take place.

While the Italian club did not want to sell Kaká, the player admits that he has no desire to leave Milan as they have given him everything he needs.

"My father and my agent spoke to people at Milan and they said that I would never be forced to leave and the only way that Madrid could ever do anything was to strike a deal with them first," Kaká told El Mundo.

"Milan made everything so easy when I came and I feel very attached to this team and have never done anything to push myself towards playing in another country."

Kaká then admitted that one of his next targets is to add to his Balon d'Or in order to be considered a great player and thinks that Milan will allow him to do that.

"My objective is to be considered alongside such greats as Cruyff or Van Basten, with three Balon d'Oro's," he continued.

"I do not think I am at my best yet, but I believe that Milan is the club that can help me do that because the team always plays to win."

Kaká talked about the injury suffered in the match against Sampdoria, and said he counts to be back on the pitch soon.

During the midweek game against Sampdoria, there was a moment in which all Milan fans held their breath. Star playmaker Kaká suddenly slumped to the ground out of nothing and it seemed like he had suffered a serious injury. Today tests pointed out he has a muscular problem, which will keep him out for a few weeks, but it isn't as serious as feared.

"I already feel better," said the Golden Ball winner. "Now let's see how long it will take to get back. I'm working hard with physiotherapy and in the swimming pool. The injury happened in the first few minutes of the match, when I felt a pain as I lifted my leg.

"I tried to continue but the muscle hardened; it was the first time such a thing happened to me, so I didn't really know how to handle myself. Then on a counterattack move I felt I couldn't run and so I asked to be substituted."

On his call up to the Brazilian national team, he said: "I'll have to present myself, but certainly I won't be able to play in the friendly."

Milan’s problems go from bad to worse as Kaka is ruled out for 10 days with an injury to his right leg.

The Brazilian superstar was forced off after only nine minutes of Milan’s 2-1 defeat to Sampdoria last night.

It has been revealed that the 25-year-old has a right leg flexor injury, and will be out of action for around 10 days.

Further tests will be undergone today and tomorrow, but Kaka will certainly miss the game with Torino this Saturday, while he faces a race against time to be fit for the following week’s match with Atalanta.

Kaka has had a miserable season on the injury front and has been playing with a niggling sensation in his knee for a few months now.

This has been a key factor in his under-par performances recently, as the Brazilian has struggled to match his brilliant level of performances from last year when he led Milan to Champions League glory.

AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has Kaka and Clarence Seedorf available for the visit of Sampdoria on Wednesday, but warned his team must focus to boost their chances of a top-four finish.
Both players were substituted after during the Rossoneri's 2-1 defeat at Roma on Saturday, but their injuries are not as serious as first feared.

Ancelotti is confident his side have demonstrated enough improvement after their stuttering start to qualify for next season's Champions League, though it will not come easily as they are now four points behind fourth-placed Fiorentina.

"At this moment we can take consolation (after the defeat) from the fact we have improved both physically and tactically," he told the club's official website.

"At the same time, there is concern that any wrong move could affect the whole plan, and so we have to focus even more on keeping up our concentration."

All the clubs above Milan won last weekend, leaving the Rossoneri only four points ahead of a resurgent Sampdoria with 10 games to play.

"Tomorrow evening we face a very formidable team, who are doing very well," Ancelotti said.

"We must try everything to win."

Brazilian full-backs Cafu and Serginho are out, and with Paolo Maldini rested Ancelotti is set to start with Massimo Oddo and Marek Jankulovski wide in defence.

Milan superstar Kaka has declared that the club must start signing some young players in order to start a new winning cycle at the club.

The Rossoneri’s Champions League exit to Arsenal last week was pained by many as the end of an era for the current squad.

AC Milan are preparing a sizable offer for Lokomotiv Moscow goalkeeper Ivan Pelizzoli, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Rossoneri have identified the signing of a new number one as one of their primary summer transfer targets.

The error-prone Nelson Dida will be offloaded, while Zeljko Kalac will remain as the club’s backup keeper.

Corriere della Sera says Ronaldo will return to Italy this morning from Paris, where he has been recovering from last month's surgery.

Milan superstar Kaka has candidly admitted that the club’s season has not been good enough.

The Rossoneri’s chances of picking up any major silverware from now until the end of the season is over after they were dumped out of the Champions League last week by Arsenal.

They are also struggling domestically, and are a massive 18 points behind league-leaders Inter, in fifth place.

"We cannot consider our season as being successful, we can only say it's been good,” said Kaka.

“The triumphs of Yokohama [Club World Cup] and Monte Carlo [European Super Cup] were linked to the previous Champions League success, while this season our goals were to be different.

"First there was the Champions League, the second was we had to be involved in the championship race. A distant third was to finish in the Champions League places."

Yesterday afternoon Milan picked up a crucial 3-1 win at Empoli to close to within one point of Fiorentina in the fourth and final Champions League position.

Kaka created the second for Massimo Ambrosini, while he added the third himself in the penultimate minute of the game.

"The goal I scored was important both for the team and for me personally because it had been a while since I had scored,” the Brazilian stated.

“Being decisive, whether with a goal or an assist as I was for the second goal, is very important to me.

“We managed to win and get three very important points for our position in the league. The run-in has started, we had 12 finals to play, now we have only 11 because one has already been won."

AC Milan seem increasingly likely to re-sign Andriy Shevchenko, and can buy him for €10m, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

Many people have painted Milan's exit from the Champions League on Tuesday night as the end of an era, and it is clear that the club needs to make some reinforcements in the summer.

The primary position that needs strengthening is up-front, and yesterday President Silvio Berlusconi declared that he wanted to bring back Chelsea’s Andriy Shevchenko to San Siro.

“I regularly hear from Andriy,” the former Italian prime minister revealed.

“And I believe that Roman Abramovich will have no difficulties letting him go.

Kaka admits major changes need to be made at AC Milan in the summer after being played off the San Siro pitch last night by Arsenal.

The Gunners dumped Milan out of the Champions League thanks to goals from Cesc Fabregas and Emmanuel Adebayor and Kaka said at the final whistle: "At the end of the season many players reach the end of their contracts and the club will decide what signings to make.

"Tomorrow and the day after will be the most difficult. The Champions League was our objective and now that is gone we must focus on at least trying to achieve fourth place.

"This team has done a great deal over the past few years for its fans and players. Unfortunately this season it went this way."

The Brazilian admitted: "Arsenal played very well in both legs and we lost against a team that played better than we did. When I got the ball and tried to run forward on the counter, myself, Pippo and Pato weren't sharp enough to do anything better.

"It is an unfortunate setback, but these defeats help you to mature."
